A bus service that offers a direct link between two of London’s largest Jewish communities has been launched to improve safety.

The 310 bus, which links Golders Green and Stamford Hill, follows a pledge made by the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan during his re-election campaign earlier this year.

This is the first time that a direct bus service has connected the two areas, as it serves people in Hackney, Barnet, Islington, Camden and Haringey – including stops at Highgate Village, Whittington Hospital, and Finsbury Park.

It follows a campaign by the Jewish community asking for a bus to connect the neighbourhoods.

The service will run for a trial period of “at least 12-months” to assess demand and to allow Transport for London (TfL) to establish whether it is “viable” in the long term.

The bus route which operates between 7am and 7pm every day of the week, began on Sunday September 1.

The service runs parallel to the existing 253 between Stamford Hill and Finsbury Park station, and the 210 between Finsbury Park station and Golders Green.

Sadiq Khan, said: "I’m delighted that the 310 bus route is now up and running, and serving the community. I pledged to Londoners when I was re-elected that I would introduce this route, and I’m pleased to be delivering on this promise.

“The brand-new bus route will connect Golders Green and Stamford Hill with a direct service for the first time, supporting many local residents, particularly in the Jewish community, and helping to build a safer, fairer and greener London for everyone."

Rabbi Dovid Lichtig, Chief Executive of the Interlink Foundation, said: "We welcome the introduction of the new 310 bus route, which will significantly enhance connectivity between our communities in Golders Green and Stamford Hill.

“We extend our appreciation to the TfL Commissioner and the Mayor of London for making this possible. This service is not just about providing earlier and more frequent buses; it's about bringing people together, improving access to essential services, and supporting sustainable travel options.”

As well as the introduction of the 310 route, there will also be improvements to route 210, which runs parallel to the 310, between Brent Cross Shopping Centre and Finsbury Park from September 21.

On weekdays, there will be a bus every 12 minutes before 7am, rather than 15 minutes at present. On the weekends, there will be extra buses before 9am. Overall, the route will start to operate 90 minutes earlier than at present.
