TfL recommends using London Overground services, when available, between Gunnersbury, Kew Gardens and Richmond, as well as Piccadilly line services for Ealing Common. Replacement buses operate.

Replacement buses are operating:

  • DL1: Hammersmith - Ravenscourt Park - Stamford Brook - Turnham Green - Chiswick Park - Gunnersbury - Acton Town
  • DL3: Early morning, late evening and Sunday only: Turnham Green - Chiswick Park - Gunnersbury - Kew Gardens (Royal Botanic Gardens) - Richmond.

On Sunday, the replacement buses also serves Willesden Junction, Acton Central and South Acton (Acton Lane).

The works are part of Transport for London's (TfL) upgrade plan and the completion of a project on the Piccadilly and District lines that began in September.

The work included renewing track at Hammersmith and West Kensington Tube stations, as well as a new drainage system being installed at West Kensington station during the October closure, aiming to reduce the risk of ongoing delays on the District line.

TfL says the track work completed during both closures "will make journeys for customers smoother, more comfortable and more reliable". Richard Jones, TfL's director of asset performance delivery, said: "We understand that closures like this may cause disruption to our customers, but the track work being completed is vital to ensure that the Tube can continue to operate as reliably as possible in these areas.

"Rail replacement buses will operate throughout the work and the Elizabeth, Central and Metropolitan lines will run as scheduled to allow customers to complete their journeys. I would encourage customers to check before they travel using our travel tools and I thank them in advance for their understanding."
