Islington Assembly Hall, Upper Street: BMW crashes into pedestrian crossing ‘Belisha beacon’

The vehicle crashed into a post at a pedestrian crossing and was blocking part of the road on Sunday morning (April 16).

A car has crashed into a pedestrian crossing post post outside Islington Town Hall and Islington Assembly Hall.

A small section of the southbound lane of Upper Street was blocked on Sunday morning (April 16) by the crashed BMW.

A police spokesperson said no one was injured in the crash, which happen at about 7.50am. There have been no arrests.

The vehicle struck a ‘Belisha beacon’ - a striped post at the end of a pedestrian crossing with a globe lamp at the top. It appeared to have been travelling north.

The crossing is next to the council’s headquarters, Islington Town Hall, and the music venue Islington Assembly Hall, near Richmond Grove and Barnsbury Street.
