The non-stop Gatwick Express service ferrying passengers between London Victoria, Brighton and Gatwick Airport will not be running this coming Saturday.

Train operator Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) has issued the warning ahead of RMT strike action planned for July 29, which is due to disrupt services across the country.

Union members are walking out as part of an ongoing dispute over pay.

GTR has said it will be running an amended timetable during the action, with no cross-London Thameslink services between St Pancras and London Bridge.

Its usual non-stop Gatwick Express will also not be running. Gatwick Express trains operating under the Southern brand will still be available however, with additional stops at Clapham Junction and South Croydon. Tickets for the Gatwick Express are valid on both Southern and GTR services.

Chris Fowler, head of network operations for GTR, said: “We’re really sorry about the impact that this round of industrial action is having on our customers, especially as many will be looking to start their summer holidays.

“We’re running as many trains as we can, but unfortunately on most routes there will be some times where people will be left without a service.

“It’s incredibly important that people check their journey before they travel and leave plenty of time, as trains will be much busier, particularly where services are starting later and finishing earlier than usual.”
