A person has been taken to hospital after being hit by a train at an east London station earlier today (August 28).

The District and and Circle lines were initially closed following the incident, though have since been reopened and are operating a good service. The Hammersmith and City line, which was also shut, is continuing to report severe delays.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson has since told LondonWorld it was called at 8.52am to reports of a person under a train at Aldgate East station.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, a fast response unit, an incident response officer and members of our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART). We also dispatched London’s air ambulance,” they said.

The person was treated at the scene before being taken as a priority to a London major trauma centre.
