Bus strikes in north and west London suspended over pay offer

Three days of strike action scheduled for this week for bus drivers in north and west London has been suspended following an improved pay offer.

Over 2000 Unite members employed by Metroline were set to strike on December 1, 2 and 3 this week.

However the action has been called off after last minute talks at the conciliation service Acas produced an improved pay offer.

Unite will not ballot its members to vote on the new offer.

Unite regional officer Laura Johnson said: “Following last minute talks at Acas, the strikes scheduled for tomorrow have been suspended to allow our members to be balloted on the new offer.”

The separate strike action involving bus drivers employed by Abellio in South and West London will go ahead as planned.

This will go ahead on December 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 and will affect drivers based at garages in Battersea, Beddington, Hayes, Southall, Twickenham and Walworth.

If Metroline workers reject the latest offer then the remaining strikes scheduled for December 8, 9, 15 and 16 will go ahead as planned.
