The Conservative shortlist of potential candidates to run for London Mayor has been drawn up, with three applicants left in the race to take on Sadiq Khan next May. But who are they?
The big surprise was that Sutton and Cheam MP Paul Scully did not make the cut, with suggestions he was not chosen due to concerns that the Conservative parliamentary party’s unpopularity in London would impact his chances.

A series of hustings will now take place, after which party members will vote for their applicant of choice. The winner will be announced on July 19.
But who are the final three, and what are they offering Londoners?
Susan Hall
A vocal anti-ULEZ voice in City Hall and former leader of the Conservative group, Susan Hall is the only one of the three candidates to currently hold elected office.

When announcing her bid, she said: “We need to beat Sadiq Khan, so we can get the police working again, stop punishing people with unfair taxes, and build a lot more homes in the right places.
“Not too long ago, London was a safer, happier and more tolerant city. It can be that again. If I am your candidate, we will get there.”
Daniel Korski
Daniel Korski, a tech entrepreneur who has previously held roles including as a Downing Street advisor under David Cameron and as a foreign correspondent for the Spectator, has stated his intention as mayor would be to rebuild the “London Dream”.

Mr Korski has previously backed the concept of moving towards a pay-per-mile road charge as an alternative to the mayor’s clean-air scheme.
Mozammel Hossain
A largely-unknown entry, Mozammel Hossain is a King’s Counsel (KC), a senior barrister, at 187 Chambers in London.
According to his page on his chambers’ website, he was born in Barisal, Bangladesh, and moved to the UK in 1995. It adds he became the first Bangladeshi-born criminal barrister to be appointed Queen’s Counsel, as it was prior to King Charles ascending the throne, in 2019.
Mr Hossain has been approached for comment on his policy objectives by LondonWorld.
