Almost ten years after the initial announcement, the project dubbed ‘UK’s Disneyland’ is set to begin construction next year when the planning application is expected to be approved.

The construction of the theme park will take place across a humongous 29.5 hectares of land in Swanscombe, Kent.

The project is set to be a source of huge revenue for London and its surrounding counties. The planning is set to be accepted in the near future, after encountering multiple issues along the way people began to question whether it would go ahead.

The park’s CEO PY Gerbeau released a statement regarding the long awaited update: “To all the naysayers and doom-mongers the London Resort is going ahead, as planned.

“It is a day to celebrate British innovation and technological wizards. We will be the first theme park across Europe to be built from scratch in nearly 30 years.”

The resort will also be around three times bigger than any theme park currently in the UK with ‘multiple lands’ being available with different themes.

The site is located 17 minutes from central London by train which means London will see a drive in revenue being the main link between the theme park and the rest of the country, and Europe.

According to the website the project is also expected to create thousands of jobs for construction and operation of the London resort, as well as the project itself being called a ‘catalyst’ for regeneration and an increase in investment in the area.

The park is expected to open by 2024, however, no specific date has been set as of yet.

The company has plans to divide the park into two park resorts with the first opening in 2024 and the second park requiring another five years of development, opening in 2029.
