Congestion charge suspended over Christmas

The congestion charge will be suspended during this period, meaning drivers won’t need to pay the £15 per day fee for driving in central London.

However, the Ultra-Emissions Zone (Ulez) charge will still apply throughout the festive season, on all days apart from December 25th.

According to the BBC, the Low Emission Zone (LEZ), which covers most of Greater London, will continue to operate as usual including Christmas Day.

Public transport in London

There will be no service on public transport on 25th December and reduced or no services on some parts of the network on Boxing Day (December 26th)

Buses will operate as usual on Christmas Eve (24th December) but no night services or 24-hour routes will operate into Christmas Day.

There will be a reduced service on parts of the Tube and Overground network due to planned maintenance works.

Services on all mainline routes from Paddington and Liverpool Street Stations will also be affected. TfL has advised passengers to check their route in advance.

Liverpool Street services will be impacted from 27th December until 1st January.

Paddington Station services will be impacted between 27th and 29th December.

Running as normal

Victoria Coach Station, Santander Cycles, rental e-scooters, and Dial-a-Ride will be available throughout the festive period including on Christmas Day.

Black cabs and private hire taxis will operate as usual throughout the festive week, though there may be fewer available at times.

New Year’s Eve travel in London

TfL will be running extra trains on New Year’s Eve to accommodate the influx of visitors and people out and about in the city.

On New Year's Eve there will be services running all night on all Tube lines except Waterloo and City, as well as on trams, the Elizabeth line, the Docklands Light Railway and the Overground, TfL said.

There will also be a special bus timetable on New Year's Eve with increased service on some routes.
