Best places to live in London: The South London boroughs ranked the best places to live in 2025

South London has proven to have some of the best places to live - and we’ve got to agree.

If you’re looking to call London your home it seems south of the river is where it's at.

In particular the south west area of Wandsworth has been named the best London borough to live in 2025 in new research.

Compare My Move has revealed Wandsworth has been ranked as the best place to live by movers heading to the capital this year.

Home to Battersea and Nine Elms which in recent years have welcomed a whole host of new developments, it's no surprise why people are flocking to the area.

As well as the extension of the Northern line to both spots, Battersea Power Station has also been transformed into a luxury shopping destination making the area one of the most sought after places to live in the city.

Although the demand means property prices are not cheap. On average abodes across the borough are around £700,000.

If you’re still wanting to live south of the river you may be better looking more east. More affordable areas include Croydon, Lewisham and Bromley.

With average house prices of £400,000 Croydon ranked the fifth best borough to live in with Lewisham coming in at number 7 and Bromley just making the top 10.

A few north London spots also made Compare My Move’s list including Brent, Tower Hamlets and Barnet but with 7 of the top 10 most in-demand boroughs located south of the Thames, a move across the river seems to be a popular choice.
