Greg Hands, the Conservative MP for Chelsea and Fulham, said he was “shocked and saddened” by the incident.

A man has died from self-inflicted wounds at a London Underground station on Wednesday morning.

British Transport Police officers were called to Sloane Square, and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The station was evacuated but has since reopened.

BTP London tweeted at 11.55am: “Officers remain on scene at #SloaneSquare following reports that a man had sustained serious, self-inflicted injuries.

“Paramedics also attended. However, despite their best efforts, the man has been pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”

Greg Hands, the Conservative MP for Chelsea and Fulham, tweeted: “Am shocked and saddened by news of a stabbing at Sloane Square station this morning. The station has, I am told, been evacuated. The @metpoliceuk and @MPSKenChel are keeping me posted as this develops.”

He later tweeted: “Terrible news at Sloane Square station. Thoughts are with the man’s family and all the emergency responders in what must have been a very distressing scene.”

Cllr Josh Rendall tweeted: “An awfully tragic morning at Sloane Square. Thanks to the Police, Paramedics and TfL staff for all they do. Thoughts with the family of the man and those who may have witnessed the event.”
