London firefighters race to the rescue after silly sausage dog gets stuck in a hole
Thankfully, this story has a happy ending!
Forget saving cats from trees, London’s firefighters rushed to the rescue this week after a silly sausage dog got stuck in a foxhole.

Six-year-old Dachshund, Tosca, went on an adventure and got stuck in a foxhole in Victoria Park Road in Hackney yesterday (27th October).
After some careful digging, the lovable pooch was found about 3ft underground shortly after 5pm.
Station Commander Paul Jarrett said: “Six-year-old Dachshund, Tosca, went on an adventure in Hackney and disappeared down a foxhole. Thankfully, Homerton crews and Bethnal Green’s Fire Rescue Unit arrived with their specialist equipment, including a snake-eye camera, which they used to locate the runaway pup.
“Tosca was found about three feet below ground level, stuck in a tunnel. After some careful digging, firefighters freed Tosca and safely reunited them with their owners.”
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson added: “Firefighters love animals and we’re ready, willing and able to assist distressed or injured animals – the last thing we want is for people to put themselves at risk rescuing an animal themselves – but we do encourage people to call the RSPCA in the first instance and we will assist if our specialist equipment is required, as in this case.”
The Brigade was called at 1455, and the incident was over for firefighters by 1702.
