Later this month (on Sunday, October 13) London’s Royal Parks Half Marathon will return.

Runners from across the city will congregate for this special race, that takes in some of the most spectacular sights in the city.

The route goes past iconic landmarks including Buckingham Palace, the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament.

The 13.1-mile charity race will start and finish at London’s Hyde Park. It raises money for several charities including Royal Parks, Great Ormond Street Hospital, and Mind.

Runner registrations for this year’s race are closed but you can register your interest about entering the ballot for 2025 by clicking here.

When is the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2024?

This year the Royal Parks Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, October 13.

What time does it start?

Runners are given an individual start time to prevent overcrowding.

The race will begin at 9am and the last wave is expected to begin between 9:30 - 9:45am.

The race will start and finish along South Carriage Drive in Hyde Park.

This stunning central London half marathon route takes in some of the capital's world-famous landmarks, including Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, and the Royal Albert Hall.

The route includes four of London's eight Royal Parks - Hyde Park, Green Park, St James's Park, and Kensington Gardens.

Road closures

Roads within Hyde Park will be closed 00:01 Sunday 13 October to 5am Monday 14 October

Roads within St James’s Park will be closed 6am – 6:30pm on Sunday 13 October

Roads within Westminster will be closed from 7am- 12:00 (noon) on Sunday 13 October

Drivers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow additional time.

Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens will be open to the public as usual across the event weekend however, users may be directed to different gates to access the Parks on Sunday 13 October 2024.

Great George Street 7am until 11:30am

Trafalgar Square, Duncannon Street, Cockspur Street, Strand, Charing Cross Road, Pall Mall East, Whitehall, Parliament Street 7am until 12:00 (noon)

Parliament Square, Bridge Street, Victoria Street - 7am until 11:30am

Park Lane 7:45am until 12:00 (noon)

Hyde Park Corner 8am until 12:00 (noon)

Cycle path closures

All cycle paths in Hyde Park will be closed Friday 11 – Sunday 13 October inclusive including Cycleway 3 on South Carriage Drive.

Cycleway 3 will be closed through Green Park and St James’ Park on Sunday 13 October.

All cycle paths in Kensington Gardens will be closed on Sunday 13 October.

The nearest tube stations to the event village are Knightsbridge and Hyde Park Corner.
