Queen road signs: Kensington and Chelsea rename street in memory of Elizabeth II

A road in central London has been renamed in memory of the late QueenElizabeth II.
New street signs for Queen’s Road, in Kensington and Chelsea, have been unveiled in honour of Her Majesty.

Hide AdNormally known as Royal Hospital Road, the street runs between Chelsea Embankment on the north bank of the River Thames, near to the famous King’s Road and Sloane Square.
While the renaming is currently unofficial, councillors for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) are considering asking residents if they want it to be made permanent.
Cem Kemahili, councillor for planning, place and environment, said: "Royal Hospital Road in a time gone by used to be named Queen’s Road.
"Through these small signs, we are reminding people of this history.
“Bringing together King’s and Queen’s Road once more."

Hide AdThe street is a historical area, and is the home of the Royal Hospital Chelsea as well as sitting next to the National Army Museum.
The councillor added: "The Queen visited the borough many times, and many residents will have fond memories of her and what she has done for the nation.
"We hope this small act will honour the long reign of Queen Elizabeth II marking her strong sense of duty and her determination to dedicate her life to her throne and to her people."
