In a statement issued by the Met Police on Twitter, a spokesperson said: “A protester has climbed onto a motorway gantry at Junction 25 on the M25. The road has been temporarily closed at this location (anticlockwise). Specially trained officers from our protest removal team are on their way to manage the scene."

A second protester has also climbed a gantry on the M25 in Surrey. Police are now on the scene on the clockwise carriageway between Junction 6 (Goldstone) and Junction 7. It started at approximately 7.40am. The authority also confirmed disruption between Junction 8 and 9, 13 and 12 southbound as well as between 13 and 14.

Surrey Police posted on Twitter: “We are here and dealing and will get this resolved as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience". Motorists are advised to plan their journeys and routes carefully before heading out on the road, especially if they had planned to use the M25.

The disruptions are taking place despite a recent High Court order being issued. It bans the climate change group from disrupting the M25, which is the UK’s busiest motorway.
