Police investigating after newborn baby boy found dead in New Eltham

Police have launched an investigation after the body of a newborn baby boy was found in south-east London.

Officers and paramedics were called to New Eltham at 5am on Sunday January 30, but the baby was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made at this stage and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

Officers are in touch with the baby’s mother who is receiving medical attention.

Police say a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course
