“Men seem to be more used to sexting or texting, but when two attractive women came up to them asking if they wanted a date they were really shy.”

Two single mums have taken a radical new approach to finding love, and are walking around London with signs asking: “Do you want to date me?”

After years of swiping left and right and being catfished and ghosted, Bonnie Miller and Delanie Forbes have ditched the dating apps and are taking to the streets to ask eligible men out in person.

Bonnie and Delanie, both 45, who met on Instagram over lockdown, first set up DnB dates to find dates for other women but realised they needed to find love for themselves first.

So on Valentine’s Day they made signs and flyers and headed to the city centre asking different men the same question: “Do you want to date me?”

“I’ve been online dating on and off for years and my last relationship which ended four years ago was from online dating,” actress and model Delanie told LondonWorld.

“I find the dating apps really soulless places, with men posing as someone they’re not and it’s just kind of empty.”

On Valentine’s Day, Delanie said she was surprised by how intimidated men were when they approached them.

“Women loved it more than men, as the men were quite bashful,” she said.

“Men seem to be more used to sexting or texting, but when two attractive women came up to them asking if they wanted a date they were really shy.”

However the pair had success, with both Bonnie and Delanie landing dates.

An old flame even reached out to Delanie after spotting her on BBC News.

“I’ve been single for eight years and I dip in and out of these dating apps and I’m fed up,” said mummy blogger Bonnie.

“My friends’ experiences on dating apps are being used, being dropped, being ghosted.

“I’m looking for a real connection.”

Bonnie’s son-in-law even came to help hand out flyers on Valentine’s Day and to her joy she met a hunky Italian.

Although her new suitor lives in Milan, he spends part of his time in London and the pair are planning to meet for a date on his next trip.

She hopes that their outings will help to normalise face-to-face meetings again.

“Men are terrified, if they haven’t got alcohol or aren’t hiding behind a dating app, they don’t know how to actually talk to women,” Bonnie said.

“It’s like you’ve got some sort of mental illness if you go up and chat to them.”

Valentine’s Day was the first of a series of love quests the pair have planned.

“Delanie and I are next planning to chat to three strangers within three locations in a day and come out of our comfort zones,” Bonnie continued.

“We’ve also got plans to go out on TfL bikes to meet men.”
