The Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge, 39, has been performing in Danny Robins’ 2:22 A Ghost Story at the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue in London’s West End.

Despite receiving excellent reviews for her performance, a source told The Sun that the Geordie beauty has been plagued by a stalker who has been sending her strange messages and her security team are now on “high alert” in order to protect the star.

This comes after the mother-of-one revealed to the Metro that she’s got a ‘stalker’.

Cheryl said: "I’ve had the same person constantly sending me weird messages, and nasty things said".

This is not the first brush with an obsessed fan that Cheryl has had to endure. The 39-year-old, who is known for hits such as Fight for This Love and Call My Name, has been plagued by stalkers for years. In 2019 she was forced to step up security after she received a spree of terrifying notes and said that the stalker made her life hell.

She is not the only Girls Aloud member who has suffered and been intimated by abusive messaging.  Nicola Roberts was also a victim of the crime back in 2017. It was revealed Cheryl had been supporting her pal after Nicola’s ex was handed a lifetime restraining order.

Carl Davies, Nicola’s ex, threatened to “stab and burn” Nicola, before a judge ordered him to stay away from the singer.

Following the scary notes, reports have emerged claiming that Cheryl now has a team of security professionals monitoring her movements and escorting her around. She is also said to have a car that waits for her outside the stage door to take her back to her Buckinghamshire home once she is finished for the night.

Cheryl shares son Bear with ex-One Direction star, Liam Payne, 29 and has been ensuring her son’s privacy is respected, opting not to show his face on social media.

Her co-star, EastEnders actor Jake Wood, has been raving about Cheryl’s commitment and performance to acting. He said: “It’s quite remarkable to see someone who has never acted before come on stage at the West End. She is in the spotlight and is under all that pressure”.

Denise Vanouten commented: “ 🙌❤️see you soon”

Pixie Lott posted: “❤️❤️❤️ Go Cheryl!!!”

Her fans have also joined in with congratulatory messages:

One said: “It fills me with so much joy to see you doing yet another thing that you were born to do!! You deserve it all 👏🏼”

Another mentioned: “Saw this show yesterday! Wow wow wow, incredible show and you were fantastic!!! 😍”
