Oxford Street shop fire: Firefighters tackle basement blaze


A basement fire in Oxford Street brought traffic to a halt on Wednesday morning (November 22).
Four engines and around 25 firefighters responded to a blaze in a commercial property under refurbishment in Westminster.

Hide AdThe fire was found in the basement of a property consisting of four floors. The basement was partly damaged by the fire, and there were no reports of any injuries.
Traffic on Oxford Street was heavily impacted as London Fire Brigade responded.
The window of the ground floor of the building advertises "Keb Houze - opening soon".


The brigade received the first of three calls reporting the fire at just after 9am and crews had the incident under control by 10.10am.
Firefighters from Paddington, Soho and Lambeth Fire Station attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
