Notting Hill: Flat above iconic movie bookstore on sale - for nearly £2.4m

Listed for £2.375m, the flat boasts more than 1,400 sq. ft. of living space over three floors.

A flat located above the famous travel bookshop from Notting Hill is on sale - for nearly £2.4m.

The Portobello Road shop provided the exterior for the Travel Book Co. in the hit 1999 film, starring Hollywood megastars Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.

Now a plush three-bed property sat directly on top is up for sale - and it’s a must-see for any fans of the silver screen.

The multi-award-nominated film told the romantic story of Grant’s bookseller and Roberts’ Hollywood actress.

The shop was home to a variety of major scenes including Roberts’ character’s famous confession of love.

It was a hit at the box office and locations in London are still visited by fans today - including the shop.

Listed for £2.375m, the flat boasts more than 1,400 sq. ft. of living space over three floors.

It also has an open plan reception room, kitchen and dining room, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a spacious outdoor terrace.

The entire third floor of the apartment is dedicated to the master bedroom, complete with an en-suite bathroom, which includes a steam room.

Hermione Russell, from sellers Russell Simpson, said: "This gorgeous apartment on Portobello Road is providing a purchaser the chance to own a piece of cinematic history.

"The beautiful triplex apartment, alongside its iconic location, is truly a one-of-a-kind sales opportunity.

"Alongside this notable home is on one of the most famous roads in the area, right in the hub of Notting Hill with several shops, bars, restaurants and the market close by.”

Although the building’s exterior was used in the film, scenes indoors were filmed in a private studio.

The building was formerly the Nicholls Antique Arcade and then went on to be a furniture shop called Gong.

It now serves as a gift shop but retains the iconic blue façade, which has remained in place since filming took place in 1998.
