Mayor’s Question Time had to be paused for several minutes this morning (November 16) after a man threw paper at assembly members.

London mayor Sadiq Khan was in the midst of answering a question on the Green Finance Fund from assembly member (AM) Leonie Cooper when chair Andrew Boff had to bring the meeting to a temporary halt.

The paper landed near the feet of AM Sem Moema, with the individual who threw it over the glass divider quickly escorted out.

Ms Moema can be heard in City Hall's webcast asking for the session to stop, telling Mr Boff: “Someone’s just thrown something at me.”

A Met Police spokesperson said the incident was dealt with by the mayor's office.

A spokesperson for the Greater London Authority, said: “Mayor’s Question Time was briefly adjourned after some paper was thrown into the Chamber. The person was escorted out by City Hall security and the meeting restarted after checks confirmed the location was secure.”

Ms Moema has been approached for comment.
