Watch Londoners on Earth Day: 'It starts with the man in the mirror'

On Monday (April 22), people around the world marked Earth Day, celebrating the environmental movement.
The event began in 1970 in the United States and is now a global event which aims to highlight the importance of protecting the planet's ecosystem.
We asked Londoners whether the city is doing enough.

Hide AdLak, a producer, said it probably isn't. "I know a lot of companies now are going green and trying to reduce their carbon footprint, and comply by all the rules...so we are trying as a whole but maybe not so much the individual," he said. "Even just the minor things like littering and stuff like that - it starts with the man in the mirror."

Kagan, who is a student, said he doesn't think enough is being done.
"Public transportation is a huge thing here," he said. "I feel like that helps because, of course, it's a big city and people are driving cars, but you have to pay more for that. So I think that puts people on the edge of using transportation more - and, in my opinion, it's easy to use to get around.

Hide Ad"But then I think one of the huge issues in the city is the trash bins. I don't see them at all. Where I'm from you can see trash bins right there, right there - so it's easy to throw your trash out instead of throwing it in the street."
IT engineer Rick said: "I don't have a car and I don't like driving. It's an issue driving. Car drivers always seem to push back. If you ask people 'Is this a good idea?' they'll say 'yes', as long as it doesn't impact them. That seems to be the issue."
