London weather: Yellow thunderstorm warning- hour by hour forecast of when it is expected to hit

A yellow weather warning is in place today with multiple rounds of ‘heavy showers and thunderstorms’ forecast, according to the Met Office.

Despite the hot weather in London this week, the Met Office’s yellow weather warning is still in place here and will be until midnight on Thursday August 1, covering all of London.

It is still expected to be another hot day with temperatures expected to reach 30C, with heavy showers and thunderstorms expected this afternoon.

The Met Office said: “Scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop through Thursday afternoon and evening across parts of central, southern and eastern England, and perhaps also south Wales. These have the potential to produce 50 mm or more in 1-2 hours, along with gusty winds, large hail, and the risk of surface water flooding.”

They also warned of “spray and sudden flooding” affecting driving conditions and road closures, and a risk of cancellations and power cuts across the UK. A yellow weather warning also means there is a chance of flooding.
