Iconic music venue, Printworks, could be set to return to London’s nightlife scene after planning permission was approved for ‘cultural use’.

Originally built as a printing factory for the Evening Standard newspaper in the 1990s, the space has been transformed into a dynamic hub for music, arts, and events.

The popular club closed in May 2023, following a weekend of parties.

Earlier this year an update revealed that property developers were in talks with Broadwick Live, which represents Printworks, about turning the former printing press into a ‘cultural venue’ that would include offices, an exhibition space, and a live music venue.

Plans to transform the venue were approved on Tuesday night by Southwark Council.

The Night Time Industries Association released a statement that said this is "an extremely positive moment" for nightlife in the UK capital.

Reports suggest Printworks is set to reopen in 2026.
