More than 40,000 turned out to run the London Marathon including more than a few famous folk

The annual London Marathon returned to the capital for yet another year of action.

The race brings together the general public, seasoned professionals, fancy dressers and even celebrities - all trying to complete the 26 miler for a range of charities.

From Olympic gold-medalist James Cracknell to former TOWIE star Mark Wright, celebrities across the world took part in the London Marathon this year.

Mark Wright

The reality TV star limped to the finish line in 3:41:47.

The former TOWIE star ran for Flora as part of their Get Towns Active campaign.

James Cracknell

According to the official TSC London Marathon app, the Olympic gold medalist was not able to finish the race - only completing 15.5 miles of the Marathon.

Sophie Raworth

Speaking ahead of the race, journalist Sophie Raworth admitted she was unsure whether she would complete the course after sustaining a calf injury.

But the BBC news presenter powered through and finished in an impressive 3:52:36.

Sam Bird

The Formula E driver, Sam Bird, finished in 3:18:12.

When he’s not running around the capital, he drives for Jaguar TCS Racing in the FIA Formula E World Championship.

Emon Choudhury

BBC Two’s Race Across the World winner, Emon Choudhury, finished the London Marathon in 5:30:16.

Lawler was the first female winner of Big Brother, and now a proud London Marathon runner, finishing the race in 5:20:51.

Gregg O’Shea

O’Shea - who won Love Island 2019 with partner Amber Gill - finished the TSC London Marathon in 4:08:08

Danny Mills

The former England footballer - who ran for Cancer Research - completed the London Marathon in 3:18:14
