One of less than 20 properties with TWO blue plaques on sale with £11.75m price tag

It is one of just 18 in the capital to bear two official blue plaques commemorating famous former residents.

One of less than 20 London properties with two blue plaques is on the market with a £11.75m price tag.

The house, in the heart of St John’s Wood in north west London, is the former home of both Scottish painter William Strang and the composer Sir George Alexander Macferren.

It is one of just 18 in the capital to bear two official blue plaques commemorating famous former residents.

Acclaimed Dumbarton-born painter and printmaker Strang lived in the house from 1900 to 1921.

He is famed for illustrating the works of the writers John Bunyan, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Rudyard Kipling.

The English composer Sir George Alexander Macferren also spent time in the historic Georgian house.

Marc Schneiderman, director of real estate agents Arlington Residential, said: “Located in one of St John’s Wood’s most sought-after avenues is this blue plaque grade II listed period house, extensively and sympathetically refurbished by the present owners.”

He added: “This is an absolutely beautiful Georgian house dating back to around 1830.

“It has a visually striking interior and a rich history."
