London in the 1930s wasn’t the easiest of times with the capital experiencing the effects of the Great Depression.
At the end of the decade, World War II broke out with many young Londoners being evacuated away from the city as well as many young men being recruited to join the army.
The ‘30s also saw the coronation of a new monarch, King George VI, and the creation of the London Passenger Transport Board.
