What are the Lime Bike parking rules? E-bike expert issues reminder after Timothée Chalamet fined £65

Timothée Chalamet proved he was just like the rest of us this week when he got a fine for parking his Lime Bike in an ‘unofficial spot’.
The Hollywood superstar revealed he was stuck in a traffic jam, and needed to make it to the carpet on time - so in true London style hopped on a Lime Bike.

Timothée isn’t the first person to be fined for abandoning their bike in an inconvenient spot. The pavements across London are often cluttered with rentable bikes.
In the wake of this, e-bike expert Ben Mercer, marketing director at Leisure Lakes Bikes, is reminding the nation about the rules for renting.

He said: “We’ve seen Limes bike grow in popularity in cities around the UK, including London. It’s really pleasing to understand that almost half (49%) of Londoners aged 18-34 say they use a rental e-bike at least once a week. However, there is a growing divide on Lime bikes and we need to change that.

“With some councils close to banning Lime bikes following mounting complaints relating to bikes obstructing the streets for pedestrians and concerns for safety, it’s clear that more action needs to be taken.
“It’s a huge positive that more people are opting to rent electric bikes to make their daily journeys, and we want that to continue. Rented e-bikes are a fun and easy way to get around and they have great potential to reduce vehicle traffic on our roads, as well as helping to lower pollution levels across our towns and cities.
“With a combined effort from Lime and local authorities, we need to see better regulation and more designated bike parking areas, away from pavements.
