and live on Freeview channel 276
The Coronation of King Charles III will take place on Saturday May 6, during a weekend full of pomp and ceremony, but the big question is: What’s on the menu?
And, more to the point, will there be a successor to the divisive coronation chicken, whose origin is attributed to the banquet for the crowning of Queen Elizabeth II 70 years ago?

The dish, most often seen in pre-made sandwiches these days, consists of chicken with a curried mayonnaise and fruit, often raisins.
LondonWorld asked Buckingham Palace about the menus for next month’s festivities, but its spokespeople are remaining tight lipped.
So what could inspire the supermarket sandwich staple? Here are some ideas based on what we know about Charles’s tastes:

The Mirror’s royal editor, Russell Myers, says the King’s ideal meal is wild mushroom risotto with organic lamb, or ‘coronation risotto’, as we could dub it.
"But the mushrooms obviously must be foraged from his own estate,” he told Lorraine Kelly on her morning ITV show.
Coronation eggs
According to the Independent, the King goes for a mainly plant-based diet.
However, he is known to be very fond of eggs and in 2020 Clarence House revealed that a favourite recipe was cheesy baked eggs, which could easily become ‘coronation eggs’.

The ingredients include spinach, cherry or sundried tomatoes, soft cheese (British, obviously), egg, double cream, grated hard cheese (British, obviously), basil and charcuterie (optional).
Coronation pie
While being a known environmentalist, and he banned foie gras from royal residences, the King is not opposed to hunting and even wrote to Tony Blair when the fox hunting ban was being proposed.
In 2018, Prince Charles was a guest editor for Country Life and commissioned a recipe of one of his favourite dishes, pheasant crumble pie.

It seems fitting, even if it’s unlikely to be stuffed into a sandwich at Pret.
Coronation lunch
In 2018, the website of the then Prince of Wales revealed the shocking fact: “The Prince does not eat lunch.”
Could ‘coronation lunch’ become another phrase for ‘skipping lunch’?
