Islington, Upper Street: Fire engine ‘was on emergency call’ when it hit pedestrian
Police are looking into the circumstances of the incident in Upper Street, Islington.

A fire engine was involved in a collision with a pedestrian on the morning of bank holiday Monday (May 29).
The condition of the man, believed to be in his 40s, is “not life threatening”, according to police. He was taken to hospital following the incident in Upper Street, Islington.

The Met was called at approximately 7.40am to reports of a fire engine in collision with a male pedestrian.
Upper Street was closed between Islington Green and Theberton Street, but reopened at approximately 10.30am.
Police say there have been no arrests and police enquiries continue.
London Ambulance Service was in attendance.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “A fire engine was involved in a collision with a pedestrian on Upper Street in Islington yesterday morning (May 29). A man was taken to hospital. The fire engine was travelling on its way to an emergency call.”

The incident has been referred to the brigade's senior accident investigator, following standard procedure.
