Huge blaze at Hackney restaurant tackled by 70 firefighters

More than 70 firefighters and ten fire engines were called to a fire at a restaurant on Kingsland Road in Hackney on Sunday 6 November at around 4am.
London Fire Brigade posted on social media about the blaze. "Firefighters are tackling a fire at a restaurant with residential properties above it where part of the basement, first floor and second floor are alight.

Hide Ad"Around ten people left the property before the Brigade arrived."
The fire was brought under control by 4.50am.
However, crewmembers will remain at the scene for the "next few hours to dampen down the area".
The fire caused damage to the restaurant’s basement and also the floors above in the dining areas.
Roads were closed off including between Pearson Street and Cremer Street, with motorists needing to find alternative routes.

Hide AdLondon Fire Brigade added: "Fire crews from Shoreditch, Whitechapel, Bethnal Green, Shadwell and other fire stations in the surrounding area attended the scene.
"Firefighters will remain at the scene for the next few hours to dampen down the area.
"There are road closures in place in the surrounding streets causing traffic and buses to be redirected.
“The cause of the fire will be investigated.”
In 2022, so far the London Fire Brigade was called out to 3,903 incidents and 492 fires.
