London Home Bargains: Product recalled ‘could be fatal’ - Sci-Mx Nutrition Ultra Muscle Strawberry Flavour

A product recall has been extended of a product which the food regulator says “could be fatal”.

Sci-Mx Nutrition has recalled its Ultra Muscle Strawberry Flavour, which is sold at Home Bargains, because of high levels of caffeine found in the product.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) says: “This makes the product unsafe to consume. Some of these products were found to contain levels of caffeine at levels that could be fatal.”

Home Bargains has stores across London.

Sci-Mx Nutrition

The recall affects 1.5 kg bags of Sci-Mx Nutrition Ultra Muscle Strawberry Flavour with batch codes W11042, W110430 and W110431. The best before date is March 2025.

Caffeine

The FSA says: “Too much caffeine can produce anxiety, sleeplessness, agitation, palpitations, diarrhoea and restlessness. Individuals with a mental health condition can experience worsened psychosis and result in the need for higher amounts of medication. Caffeine can reduce how well your antipsychotic medications work.

“Children, or other people sensitive to caffeine, should only consume caffeine in moderation. Pregnant and breast-feeding women are advised not to have more than 200mg of caffeine over the course of a day.”
