Firefighters rescue resident from Clapham flat fire

One person was rescued from a flat fire in south London last night.

Firefighters rushed to Victoria Rise in Clapham last night (Wednesday, December 28).

Over half of the ground floor flat was damaged by the blaze, and one person was rescued by the fire brigade.

A further person left the property before the London Fire Brigade (LFB) arrived.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service (LAS) assessed patients at the scene.

A spokesperson said: “The brigade was called at 10.55pm and the fire was under control by 11.36pm.

“Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Clapham, Battersea and Brixton fire stations attended the incident.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, they added.
