TV host Davina McCall, 57, has been diagnosed with a rare benign brain tumour and is set to undergo surgery. Speaking on Instagram, she asked fans for thoughts and prayers as she prepares for the operation.

National treasure Davina McCall has been diagnosed with a rare brain tumour.

The TV presenter, 57, asked fans to send their thoughts and prayers as she undergoes surgery to remove the tumour.

The Wimbledon-born star, who recently won the NTA Lifetime Achievement Award, revealed that the very rare colloid cyst was discovered during a health check.

She posted a video on Instagram to say she had been diagnosed with a benign tumour. Davina said she had been suffering from frequent headaches and fatigue.

According to the Brainstrust charity, a benign tumour is not cancerous, but such cysts tend to grow slowly.

Davina said: “It needs to come out because if it grows, it would be bad. So send a prayer for me. I am in good spirits.”

She added: “I slightly put my head in the sand for a while and then I saw quite a few neurosurgeons. I got lots of opinions, and I realised that I have to get it taken out.

She also described the tumour as “big for the space. adding that it’s “14mm wide.”

Davina told followers: “I don’t want you to worry about me. I’m doing that enough. But I’m not worrying too much and I am in a good space. I have all the faith in the world in my surgeon and his team. I am handing the reins over to him.”
