The crash happened at around midday on Sunday, December 26, between Kingston Gate and Ham Gate in the sprawling park known for its famous herd of deer.

Police said the woman driving the car slowed down to allow “some geese to cross the road”.

The man on a bike was then sent crashing into the back of her car and through the back window.

The cyclist was taken to hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening or life-changing, according to police.

A picture of the badly damaged silver vehicle showed the rear window completely smashed, with glass scattered across the road.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing, the Royal Parks Police said.

A spokesperson for the force wished the cyclist “a speedy recovery”.

They said: “Officers at Richmond Park have been dealing with a road traffic collision between Kingston Gate and Ham Gate after the driver of a vehicle slowed to allow some geese to cross the road and a male on a bicycle collided into the rear of her vehicle and through the back window.

“The cyclist was taken to hospital, his injuries are not life threatening or life changing. The investigation is ongoing. Wishing the cyclist a speedy recovery.”
