Croydon fatal ambulance crash: Police appeal for motorcyclist who be witness

A man died after a collision at the junction of Purley Way and Edgehill Road in Croydon.

Police investigating a fatal crash involving an ambulance on an emergency call have issued an image of a motorcyclist who may have information.

Police were called shortly after 6pm August 30, 2022 to a collision involving an ambulance and a motorcycle at the junction of Purley Way and Edgehill Road, Croydon.

The rider, 52-year-old David Sharp, from Lingfield, Surrey, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The ambulance was en route to an emergency call at the time of the collision. Its crew provided first aid.

Detectives believe another rider was close to the scene of the collision.

Officers from the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating and, in particular, are asking anyone who has dashcam footage to come forward.
