Wayne Couzens charged with further exposure offences

Wayne Couzens, Sarah Everard’s murderer, has been charged with two further exposure offences.

Met Police officers investigating sexual offences in Kent have charged Couzens, 49, of no fixed address, with two further charges of exposure.

Couzens is serving a whole-life sentence for the abduction, rape and murder of Ms Everard, 33, a marketing executive living in London, in March 2021, while he was a serving Met Police officer.

The alleged offences took place on June 9, 2015 in the Dover area and November 13, 2020 in the Deal area.

Couzens will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 2, 2022.

Rosemary Ainslie, head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) special crime division, said: “The CPS has authorised two further charges of exposure against Wayne Couzens, following a referral of evidence by the Metropolitan Police.

“The function of the CPS is not to decide whether a person is guilty of a criminal offence, but to make fair, independent and objective assessments about whether it is appropriate to present charges to a court to consider.”
