Vauxhall Bridge: 24-year-old fighting for life after being assaulted with metal pole

The police were called to Albert Embankment in south London following reports of the incident just before 4.15am on October 1.

A 24-year-old man is fighting for his life after being assaulted with a metal pole near Vauxhall Bridge.

The Met Police was called to Albert Embankment just before 4.15am yesterday (October 1) following reports of the incident. The victim was subsequently rushed to hospital by the London Ambulance Service, where his condition has been assessed as life threatening.

Two men, one aged 23 and the other 22, were arrested nearby on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. Both remain in police custody.

A Met Police spokesperson said CCTV shows a number of people in the area at the time of the assault. Detectives are asking anyone with information to get in touch by calling 101, quoting CAD 1204/01Oct.
