Limehouse: Police investigate fight the day before death of Tower Hamlets woman Teddi Baker

Police are investigating a fight near Limehouse Cut, involving up to six people, including Teddi Baker, who later died.

A woman who died after being found unconscious in Tower Hamlets has been named by police as Teddi Baker.

Police are investigating the death of the 21-year-old, who was found unconsious in Stainsby Road at around 8.30pm on Thursday February 8. Despite the efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are still awaiting the results of a post-mortem.

Detectives are looking for witnesses to a fight they believe happened the previous night in Dod Street, near Limehouse Cut canal, between about 10pm and midnight.

Officers believe it involved a group of up to six people, one of whom was Teddi Baker. The incident was not reported at the time.

Detective Inspector Sufia Matin of Tower Hamlets CID said: “This was an extremely tragic incident and we must investigate it thoroughly to understand exactly what has happened leading up to Teddi’s death.

"We are urging anyone who has any information or who may have witnessed a fight in the Dod Street area of Limehouse/Poplar during the times stated, to contact us immediately. We owe it to Teddi and her family to find out what happened and you could hold vital information we may need.”

One woman aged in her 20s has been arrested on suspicion of murder. She has been released on police bail to return at a later date.
