TfL Oxford Circus: Investigation after 'man pushed onto London Underground tracks'

A man was hauled back onto the Tube platform by fellow passengers after the incident at TfL's Oxford Circus station, say police.

Detectives are investigating a terrifying incident in which a man was allegedly pushed onto the Tube tracks.

British Transport Police (BTP) is appealing for witnesses as part of an attempted murder investigation into reports of an attack at Oxford Circus Tube station on Saturday (February 3) at about 3pm.

The force said in a statement: "Thankfully members of the public helped the man off the tracks before the tube arrived at the station and he did not sustain any serious injuries.

"Detectives are appealing to the witnesses on the platform who assisted the man and anyone else who may have witnessed the incident or events leading up to it to contact them as soon as possible."

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is in police custody.
