TfL: Croydon tram crash driver Alfred Dorris cleared by jury of failing to take reasonable care at work

The driver of a tram which crashed in 2016, killing seven people has been found not guilty by a jury.

Alfred Dorris, 49, was charged with failing to take reasonable care at work, under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. He was cleared today following a trial at the Old Bailey.

Transport for London (TfL) and Tram Operations Limited previously pleaded guilty to health and safety offences. They will be sentenced next month.

The incident on November 9 2016 left a further 19 people seriously injured.

Those who died were Dane Chinnery, Donald Collett, Robert Huxley, Philip Logan, Dorota Rynkiewicz, Philip Seary and Mark Smith.
