Oxford Street assault: Man left with skull fractures and ‘bleeds on the brain’

A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

A man has been left seriously injured with skull fractures and “several bleeds on the brain” after an assault on Oxford Street, in central London.

Police were called shortly after 3am on Friday, October 14, to reports of a fight involving three men at a bus stop at the junction of Oxford Street and Hills Place.

Officers and paramedics rushed there, and one man was taken to hospital with a head injury.

The man, aged in his 50s, suffered several bleeds on the brain and skull fractures and is receiving treatment.

Detectives are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward and have reviewed CCTV.

DC Corie Shorrock, from Westminster police, said: "We know a large number of people were in the area and may have witnessed the fight.

“Some may even have photos or videos of the incident and I would ask them to contact us immediately."

A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident, and later bailed pending further enquiries.
