Old Street Boxing Day stabbing: Murder investigation leads to four arrests

A man died with stab injuries on the night of Christmas, in the early hours of Boxing Day.

A murder investigation is under way following the incident near Old Street.

Police were called at about 3.10am on Tuesday (December 26) to reports of a stabbing in Cranwood Street, Hackney.

Met Police officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics found a man – believed aged 49 – suffering stab wounds. Despite their efforts, the victim died as a result of their injuries.

Police say enquiries are ongoing to inform his next of kin.

Four people – two men aged 49 and 42 and two women aged 35 and 44 – have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody and a crime scene remains in place.
