Police attended a Mayfair club this week after being called by "concerned venue staff" following a report of an attempted spiking

A man has been charged with spiking a drink at a private members' club in Mayfair.

The Met Police says Vikas Nath, 61, of Knightsbridge Road was arrested in a club and later charged under Section 61 of the Sexual Offences Act with administrating a substance with intent.

Police say they were called to the exclusive Mayfair club in the early hours of Tuesday January 15 by "concerned venue staff" after a report of attempted spiking of a female a guest.

Nath has been remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court today (Wednesday January 17).
