Man charged with murder after unsolved fatal stabbing almost 40 years ago in court

A man charged with murder following a fatal stabbing that took place 38 years ago is to appear in court.
Paul Bryan, 61, of no fixed abode will appear in custody at the Old Bailey today (Thursday, October 24), charged with murder and possession/control of identity documents with intent.

It follows an appearance at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The charges relate to the murder of 63-year-old Roman Szalajko at an address in Seaton Close, Kennington on February 7, 1984.
Bryan was arrested after returning to the UK on a flight from Spain on November 19.
Mr Szalajko’s family have been informed of the arrest and charge.
