Rapper and BBC Radio 1Xtra host Lady Leshurr has been charged with two counts of assault after a fight in north-east London on Saturday.

Police were called out to reports of a fight in Knotts Green Mews, Walthamstow, on Saturday at 5.08am.

Two women, both aged 27, were taken to hospital and have since been discharged, the force said.

The Birmingham born artist, real name Melesha O’Garro, 34, was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Sherelle Smith, 28, was charged with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Both women will appear in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 24.

Lady Leshurr has hosted a weekly show on Saturdays on BBC Radio 1Xtra since December 2020.

She has collaborated with artists such as Wiley, Little Mix and the Black Eyed Peas’ Will.I.Am and performed with Nicki Minaj.

She was awarded the British Empire Medal in 2020 for services to music and charity.
