Islington stabbing: Section 60 Order in-place after two killed in Elthorne Road, Archway

The police said it understands some people may be hesitant coming forward, but is urging anyone with information to get in touch.

A Section 60 Order is in-place in north London after a 15-year-old boy and 23-year-old man were stabbed to death late last night (June 29).

Police were called to Elthorne Road in Archway around 11.30pm to reports of a stabbing.

The 15-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was taken to hospital, though later died of his injuries.

A third victim, believed to be aged 28, was also taken to hospital. His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

The families of both of those who died have been informed. The police said they are being supported by specialist officers, and has asked for their privacy to be respected.

An investigation has been launched by Specialist Crime Command, with enquiries ongoing. There have been no arrests at this stage.

Supt Jack May-Robinson, who is in charge of community policing in north London, said: “It saddens me to tell you that a boy and young man were fatally stabbed last night in Elthorne Road here in Islington.”

He continued: “We are working closely with our Specialist Crime colleagues who are conducting fast time enquiries to identify and apprehend those responsible.

"A Section 60 Order granting officers additional stop and search powers has been authorised and additional patrols will be conducted to provide reassurance to the community. Please approach those officers if you have worries, concerns or information.”

Supt May-Robinson said the force is committed to working with its borough partners to tackle street violence, but needs anyone with information to get in touch.

"We know that some people, particularly youngsters, may be hesitant to come forward with information, but you can share what you know anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers who will not even ask for your name,” he said.

"This is an area rich in community spirit, and we thank local people for their cooperation and assistance as our specialist crime colleagues progress their investigation.

"We will provide further updates as the facts of the incident become available.”

Cllr Kaya Comer-Schwartz, leader of Islington Council, said: “I’m shocked and saddened following the fatal stabbings of a man and a boy in Islington last night.

“My thoughts and condolences, and those of Islington, are with their families and friends at this extremely distressing time.

“We’re working with the police, who have launched a murder investigation. If you have any information that can help the investigation, it’s really important that you contact the police, or speak to the independent Crimestoppers line anonymously.”
