Prashanth Kandaiah, 29 from Thamesmead, was charged on Tuesday with attempted grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article.

A man has been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm after allegedly confronting police at Horse Guards Parade in Westminster.

At around 8.50am on Monday morning, a man armed with a knife reportedly confronted two Ministry of Defence Police officers.

A Taser was used and he was restrained by officers. There were no reports of any injuries.

Prashanth Kandaiah, 29 from Thamesmead, was charged on Tuesday with attempted grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article.

Kandaiah, of Mellion Close, will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court later.

The incident is not being treated as terror-related.
