A woman has been charged with manslaughter and importing a regulated substance following the death of an 11-year-old.

Fatiha Sabrin died in Shadwell on December 11, 2021.

Jesmin Akter, 33, of Sutton Street, was charged on Friday (July 28) with manslaughter and importing a regulated substance.

She will appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on August 22.

The charge follows an investigation by detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.

Fatiha was found unresponsive at a home in Sutton Street, on December 11, 2021, and was taken to hospital, where she died later that day.

Police say Fatiha’s family have been informed of the charges.
