Brent Cross fatal: Man arrested after woman, 22, dies in crash on Christmas Day

A 22-year-old woman who was a passenger in the second car suffered injuries and died at the scene.

A man has been arrested after a 22-year-old woman died in a collision in the early hours of Christmas Day morning.

At around 3.45am today (Sunday, December 25) police officers on patrol in a marked vehicle indicated for a car to stop near Hendon Way, in Edgware, Brent.

The vehicle drove off from the police and there was no pursuit.

The same car was later in a collision with another car and a lamppost at the Brent Cross Flyover.

The occupants of the car that did not stop for police fled the scene on foot.

A 22-year-old woman who was a passenger in the second car suffered injuries and died at the scene, despite paramedics efforts to save her.

A 29-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody.

Enquiries are ongoing to trace the other occupants of the car, and the woman’s next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the second car suffered a head injury and his condition is not said to be serious.

Road closures remain in place at the scene.
